A warm welcome to our latest member.

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Sun Jan 03, 2016 9:47 pm

I've just been asked by our latest member here to amend his log in details to comply with our forum policy here.

I'd just like to thank Tom for his request and on behalf of everyone here, wish him a warm and friendly welcome here.

We look forward to your future posts here Tom.

I hope another new member here "Frankie" does likewise with any one of our admin team here, in order to be able to give him or her a similar welcome here.

What should we do now then? Delete all members not using real names? Send them a warning and give them some days (couple of weeks) to fix it?

Harsh maybe?

I thought a month was around a sensible amount of time to allow for changes to be made. If someone signs up to this forum, I'd like to think they would revisit it to make any changes necessary within one calender month.

I think the registration page could and perhaps should be a little clearer in the first instance to stress the need to use real name only here upon registration.

Let me know if there is a way that you can change this please Vidar to reflect our members wishes.

I agree Andrew, in my personal opinion it is the wording in the registration process that caused the problem in the first place (in most cases)

I will have to ask, as I think I only can edit the text below where it ask for name/nick

Ok Vidar, any advance on the current way of wording would surely help save any future confusion though. It may be an idea to change just that for now and see how we go.

I can't see what's wrong with the text already there really.

No me neither now you've placed it in print here. Has it always stated this?

I was sure I could see why people may have misconstrued the ruling when I looked into it before Christmas???

It has been there for months, but where you enter name to register, it say name or nick name to use. I think I can not change that. I have put a query if it would be possible to fix it

Ah yes, that was what I saw...name or nickname.
Like you say Vidar, you really could do with losing this nickname option if at all possible?

It is easy to see why new members would feel they have complied with the forum rules by opting for a nickname as opposed to their actual name from this current way of wording within the registration page.

Let's see if they can help with this. Programming wise it's very simple, but they might not want to add 3 lines of code
