FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS

#1 by Hugh Thompson Scott ( deleted ) , Sun Nov 15, 2015 1:59 pm

I seem to remember promising someone I'd put up some pics of this lovely seasonal film, one of my favourites from Roman
Polanski, with a great cast and music score from Komeda plus superb photography from Doug Slocombe, it is a winner on the
small gauge for me.

Hugh one of my favourite films. I really like Polanski films.
Is this a Derann or Kempski print ?

Hi David, the print was Derann's first out the trap, I understand they use Kempski's negs. I still have to get to grips with this screenshot
bit, sick of bloody apps.

I think the uploads by Hugh are more believable in that we know this is real film, although I would like to think its the Derann print of this movie, I have my suspicions that it is
a dvd being shown, as it looks too good to me, you know the saying " if it sounds too good to be true" . I believe a an ebayer called "keytapper" had a copy of this for sale a while back, starting bids were £399.00, not one bid on it. Its a maybe that he still has it, no screenshots were uploaded but I think he is a forum member and sells a few items on ebay.

Thanks for vote of confidence Paul, I'm still coming to grips with digital pictures. The actual print is stunning, my pics have some blue "highlights", its something I'm doing wrong, but I'll get there eventually. There is a print being sold by a German collector on the other forum for 599 Euros, which taking inflation into account probably works out right, The print was about £280.00 from DFS if memory
serves, back in the '80s, but a nice film regardless of price.

Sorry, my previous upload should have read "keyboardtapper" and not keytapper. I take better picture's with my cheap Fuji digital camera Hugh, and not one that has thousands
of settings, mine always turned out too blue no matter what I did to the settings or washed out so looked faded. You would think that setting it to shutter priority it would capture
and freeze the frame perfectly, not so it was all over the shop. Like tom I would hope to add this to my collection at some point along the way, if that's from an Kempski neg then
even more desirable.

It is a very nice print Andrew, but those pics don't do it justice. It wasn't the '80s, but the early .90s when I got this film,
I remember saying to poor old Tony Churcher at Blackpool, I hope Derek shows a reel from the film, I couldn't believe the pitying look
I got.

It´s one of my all time favorite movies. There is no one minute boring sequence in the movie and it has the perfect atmosphere for a Vampire movie.
I was invited at last Halloween for a movie night at a friends home theater and the second movie at this night was also Fearles Vampire Killers in 35mm.
I never watched the S8 print, but I heard from friends, it is one of the best print quality for S8.
