Vampire circus

#1 by Paul Browning , Thu Nov 05, 2015 7:29 pm

This is now on Ebay for a buy it now price of £200.00 . Its the Walton 4 x 400ft colour sound version in the original box's, not sure what the colour would be like, but
I would think this is quite rare, I have not seen one of these for sale before, it's a pity there are no screen shots to get a better idea of the condition.

Sorry Andrew I should have done so, Robert's done one now thank you, still there just checked, if it had been the twins of evil I think it would have gone straight away,
still a good hammer horror though, not seen this on the tele in a long time.

I expect you're both aware of the Horror channel on the free to air channels.

Wife (real horror fan) never has it off Robert! We are subjected to all kinds of nonsense in our house. Some of the "B" movies are dire.

I don't watch it myself, but very nice for horror fans like Hugh. Have you noticed the very poor quality of some of the prints shown on these minor channels, some look like they were taken from Youtube. There is one called showbiz.tv, shows old TV programmes from the 50s, but the quality of the image is very poor on some of them.

There are both "Vampire Circus" & "Twins of Evil" from a UK seller on ebay, both at £200,00, both the Walton editions.
I still have both of mine, bought from Pat of Cork Films in Ireland for £40,00 apiece, lovely prints. I had a print of "Circus" but
it was contrasty, from Walton and sold on, not up to the colour/contrast of Pat's prints which are perfect. I shall of course put up
pictures of same so you can see for yourselves. These were both ex library, but in great condition from the mid '80s. I wonder if
Walton used different labs or different master material, I noticed it in a few of their releases, some were natural colour, others
could have an "embarrassed" colour to flesh tones.

I have these Hugh, but mine are the Derann versions. I like the twins of evil especially the scene he call's up the devil, and I think he makes a good convincing vampire,
and his portrayal of the "evil count" is quite good, and to follow Chris lee a job well done.

Well done Paul on securing Derann's releases, the only reason I didn't was that we were overwhelmed by stuff being released, spoiled in fact, so it was a case of buying what was not in the collection. I agree that Damien Thomas was a superb vampire, his diction and presence proved that here was a "man" in charge, a great piece of acting. As for "Circus", a case of "did you know" that the singer David Essex was turned down for the part of the Panther/boy in the film. In answer to the quality of films on Horror Channel, I agree, there are
some gems among the sludge, try "Sawney" or "Inbred", it puts a dark colour to ""Last of the Summer Wine" for tourists to Yorkshire, who I
must say are lovely folk, my mate and I had a bunch of Yorkshire lads in fits at a Union bash, a good bunch to share a pint with.

I bought Derann's full Vampire Circus good print. I also bought Twins Of Evil, sadly although very cheap not much to see. Its so dark you need a 1,000,000. light.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

As well I believe Dave, anyway I'm quite happy with the Walton releases, great colour & sound and great editing, even though it meant
the tiger girl dance was omitted, the story kept interest in "Vampire Circus", it didn't warrant a further £290.00 cost for a film I already had.As a question Dave, why the bit of a Dalek in your avatar?

Just to see if anyone could tell what it was. I was going to do that old joke with the photo copier at one point.
