Die Hard Derann Feature finally comes up for sale!

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Thu Nov 05, 2015 2:14 pm

This hopefully will interest at least one of our members here!

Alexander Prell (a german collector from our other film forum) is selling the full feature of Die Hard as well as quite a few other desirable titles.
Not cheap but ought to be in very good condition as most, he has apparently owned from new and Alexander has been a serious long term collector over the years.
I am certain he will provide anyone extensive screen shots for any title they may well be interested in.

He appears now, to be pulling away from Super 8mm film collecting sadly.

Similarly Joel Whybrow from the same forum has a collection of top quality "modern" 16mm features and high end 16mm xenon machines for sale due to a similar situation it would seem.

I 'm not an expert so I don't know the value of Joel's prints, but some seem excessive, £1,100 for a print that's heavily scratched with fading at the end. I wonder what CHC would sell these for?

Die Hard works out to £392.88p at an exchange rate of 0.71 euros to the pound, I suppose considering all the factors its not bad, it would have been around £280 from Derann when it first came out in the mid 1990's

I'll have a look later Dave at the catalogue prices once again from when Die Hard was very first released, but as a 5x600ft longer feature, if I'm honest, I actually thought it worked out a tad more than that.

Generally speaking around this era of release, the feature reels were usually between £60 and £80 per reel barring a penny, dependent on the expected desirability of the title.

It's a film I already have, but would otherwise be interested in seeing the screenshots from this.

As for Roberts comments regarding the 16mm prints, I think likewise, however I have been astonished before now at some of the prices some 16mm titles command.

Ah well, that didn't last long! Do hope it was Tom who purchased it. I know it's a film he has been chasing for many a moon.

What a shame Tom. I was hoping you would see this before it sold.
Ah well... the search continues.

Well lads, I sold a print for half the price on SFFF recently, a good print, no scratches, but little interest in general, along
with "The Fog".

I am really surprised to hear that there was little interest shown in these two prints Hugh.

The one mentioned here was redubbed and sold in less than a day?

Yes, sound correct with about a year. I was totally unhappy to not have the money. Really wanted it, but felt keeping my house was slightly important too :-)

Tom, Vidar, if you lads had let me know, I could have worked something out, at the time I had vets bills, but for you
lads, it would have been sorted. I feel I have let my oppo's down, but it does pay to keep an eye on the sales section on forums.
The only reason for me, it was putting these films in collectors hands on forum.
