For my 8 mm projectors,I use a very sturdy wooden (and portable) dinner tray/stand. For my heavy 16mm projector, it resides on a small cabinet with rollers, which makes it easy to roll into place for use.

When I first started out I used to put the projector on top of a washing machine in the kitchen and project into the living room. Then I bought a stand, which I used until a couple of years ago. I always found the stand a little short and had to elevate the projector so it missed the heads of those sitting in front of the screen. When I got a 16mm projector I found the top board of the stand too small so I replaced it with a wooden cutting board. When I got my more modern 16mm projector a very nice stand came with it, taller than the previous one. The stand is Reflecta Senior, made in Germany; and they are still available.

I use something similiar to the one Robert linked to, but mainly for 16mm and Regular 8. I do have a table that holds my Super 8, so I don't have to move it around so much

Yep, always done just fine for me too. All Super 8mm projectors I've ever owned have fit on this very nicely and always found the lower tier useful for an external amplifier, speakers or a mixing console depending on what I am using the projector for on that particular occasion.
Here are some examples of how I use mine. Even the Long Play unit fits just fine on one of these.
I use a small antique table that I place behind the sofa, so that I can project onto a screen that is in front of the t.v. Additionally, I occasionally need an extension cord (dependent on the machine being used) to reach the closest electrical outlet.
I have used the same proj. stand for over 40 years, similar to Andrew's except I had to add a second shelf myself for film storage etc.
