RE: What are your most recent film purchases?

Just picked up Derann's Rollercoaster Rabbit and Mickey's Fire Brigade from eBay, both films I owned before and both films I regret selling (along with a large amount of the rest of my collection). Also picked up a GS1200 this week for a good price, have also taken delivery of a brass cog to repair my Visacustic 1000, and am awaiting a test kit to get my Beaulieu fully functioning. (And outside the film world I also got a pair of Jim Rogers JR149 loudspeakers - been after a pair for years!) Better not spend any more money this month.

Two great titles there Stuart and definitely two for the "shorts" review section once you get time. I was myself interested in all of those titles and one or two others besides but I am currently tied into a deal and there is only so much to go around mate. Well done for bagging this pair of Beauties!

Damn, my latest purchase is altered. I do not get It's a Mad, mad, mad world, as I didn't notice it was German dubbed, so exchanged it with They Shoot Horses, Don't They? Also a good film of course :-)

I've just got my first Disney feature. Really looking forward to watching it. It looks to have had very little use.... all leaders and packaging is intact. Plus it's a film I've never seen. Which one? Snow White!

Yes indeed it was Stuart. I thought it was pretty good too. No trailers, but weren't they on a separate reel?

I haven't watched it yet, so I wait with baited breath before passing ultimate judgement!

Andrew W will tell you where the trailers were originally located John, he's a fount of all knowledge on the Derann Disney features. I'd have bid a bit more on that one against you if i hadn't just bought a GS1200!

I must admit John I was truly astonished to see how little this print fetched.
Especially if it was the collectors edition I saw recently on e bay.

I cannot believe a film as pristine as this one is, with all of its historical attachment being the first full length animated film, that so little interest would have existed.

I think my own came with both trailers but I cannot remember if they were placed at the beginning of the film or the end. Many were surprisingly.

Either way, both editions show up frequently if you wanted to add either or both later.

Anyhow congrats John, I doubt you could ever be disappointed in any way. It's a classic film with plenty of humour, some great songs and a fabulous print to boot! 😊😊😊

Well I'm sorry to report Stuart and Andrew that the print is absolutely mint (!) The second reel looks like it's never been run through a PJ.

This one makes up for all of those awful purchases I made when I started out collecting... red, scratched and both!

I don't know Andrew, that's not so good if it's ropey.

I will take great care of SW, don't worry. I'm obsessive about keeping the Eumig and Bauer film paths clean. As you have said before, both of these projectors are very kind to film.

Meeting in our club yesterday

Not checked anything yet. Some 16mm like Harry and the Hendersons, Outland, Blondie episode and a few others I don't remember. Overall happy with the haul at around 160 pounds for all, including the statue of the boys (22 GBP) and some 8mm

A number of rare, and I mean rare, silent comedies, all in std 8 from the French Pathe. Charley Chase in A ONE MAMA MAN, Our Gang in SHIVERING SPOOKS, STOP THAT NOISE from the series "The Newlyweds and their Baby", Arthur Lake in DOUBLE TROUBLE, from the series "Harold in Hollywood", Jimmy Adams and Lige Conley in BANG !, Snub Pollard in ANY OLD PORT... and a few others. Perhaps they don't mean anything to STAR WARS collectors but for me they are a treasure found !!!!
