Just closed the deal on African Queen on 16mm. The colors are bit faded, but there are color left. The film is great, and from the golden days of Hollywood, just as I like it :-)

Well I took a punt on a copy of the marketing release of GREASE that was on EBay recently. The seller said it was 2 x 400ft of the three part release mounted on an 800ft spool, but I know Marketing used thinner stock and the 3 x 400ft release could be squeezed onto an 800ft spool. I won it for the starting bid of £30 plus post and received it yesterday. The 800ft spool was brim full and did indeed contain all three 400ft parts spliced together. It's on SP and warm, but there are plenty of colours left and it looks OK with a blue gel over the lens.

That's a great price for this iconic film John, I can say!

You did great there my friend, you really did.

This film only a few years back, went each and every time for much much more.
The sketchy, non conclusive advertising definitely helped, but also now it seems, all too many simply won't take a chance on any film with even a chance of a little fade which in my opinion, is a mistake.

This is where some of the best left bargains in the hobby are currently there to be had, and many really do only have "slight warming" with all colours still very much present and at a fraction of the prices seen regularly for low fade similar length prints.

I've had my exact same print of Grease for around 5 years now. It wasn't perfect then when I bought it, but it is no worse now and I paid far far more John, so very well done once again. A true bargain and a great entertaining, as well as highly repeatable abridged feature!😊

Just won Donald Duck - Bearly Asleep (1955), Super 8, 200', color and sound.

This is a scope print. I know Derann made a scope of this (I watched it in the collectors club here in Oslo). Did anyone else make this in scope? Info about the manufacturer was not included.

Three standard 8mm purchases:
A complete Our Gang short titled "Uncle Tom's Uncle" (1926), excerpts from "Hide and Shriek" (1938) titled "Haunted House" featuring the Little Rascals, and scenes from "Charge of the Light Brigade" (1936).
[[File:IMG_1223.JPG|none|auto]]

And two super 8 digests that were a gift from my friend Doug:
Excerpts from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954) titled "Monster from Under the Sea", and scenes from "Our Man Flint" 1966).
[[File:IMG_1221.JPG|none|auto]]

All films were black and white/subtitled. :-)

Love those rascals, my latest, Wild Poses has become a favorite of mine. Spanky is super. Photographer talk about retouching, they conclude it is when he touches you, then touch you again :-) And he shot a little t of kids, very funny expressions

Thanks, mate! I guess you might have, yes :-) I have bought many items from this seller and have been very happy with the deals. I expect Bearly Asleep (Donald Duck) from the same seller in the mail any time now :-) That one is a scope. I have a scope lens, but not a bracket for my GS 1200. I guess I must hand held it the first times until I get a bracket :-)

Or just rest it on some books or possibly even just cut Vee shape into the top of soft plastic cordial bottle, and use this as a makeshift cradle just as I've seen others do in similar circumstances.

I must admit, given their rarity with sound, I was quite tempted to have a punt on these two myself.
I'm pleased I didn't now I know you wanted them Eivind, and a perfect way to remember this birthday by, in the future! 😊😊

I'm glad I didn't inadvertently spoil your special day my friend! 😂😂

I have a short excerpt of Freaky Friday on the Super 8mm reel of Disney's Greatest Chases. I've seen the full film many times and is one I always enjoyed, especially reminds me of my younger years.

During childhood, Disney's Greatest Chases was the first 400ft Colour Sound Film I ever owned along with The Sound Of Music on the very same day.
I was fortunate enough to find another low fade print this time around that still looks as good as when I first viewed this excerpt reel all those years ago with Freaky Friday in it.

Nice find Michael!

Just closed the deal on Murder on the Orient Express (1974). Really happy about that! Super 8, 6x400' + 1x200'. It is faded, but I don't know how much yet.
