Hi Vidar,
I didn't know you had that one on 16mm. I'd love to see some screenshots of your copy (hint, hint). :-)

It is at the bottom of a pile. It was reddish, if I remember correctly

Not too sure if i should admit to this, but i missed a few films while i was away on holiday but i did make a purchase today of the 600ft version of Hawk the Slayer, i believe its one of those so bad its good movies but the 600ft version does have very good reviews on the other side. I shall let you all know,
Also got another part to the world in flames, (battle for Moscow) and the Close encounters extra long promo in scope.

Have i told anyone i'm after Die Hard?

It just came out of the blue, I have some late derann features, but this is up there with close encounters, and certainly not on my wanted list, but an adventure and then some.

Ha ha , I bet you will Del, you cheeky monkey. I had a few more besides, the world is not enough, robin hood prince of thieves, On her majesties secret service, flame and the arrow.
Variety the spice of life, that extends to my film collecting too.

I think it's a case of the more you buy, the more that surface as a result Tom.

I cannot speak for Paul's circumstances of course and how he manages to find all of the "A" listed titles he does, but for myself, all I can say is once you are regularly active within the feature market, then you get to find out other similar rated titles that may also become available.

I have before now, entered into a kind of contract situation with collectors who may be downsizing or coming away from Super 8mm altogether.

Nothing legally binding you understand, just a gentleman's agreement that you will purchase one or two titles reliably each month until you have the ones you are seeking.

I've done this with great success on many occasions with sellers in the U.S.
It's not the cheapest method of acquiring a desired collection of films but it gives you exclusively all that you are seeking at an agreed cost without any of the hassles associated with e bay or even the forums for example at times.

No gazumping is a big deal to me when buying films of a certain calibre.
They are expensive enough and hopefully people now know me well enough to know I am not in this to make any money from other people's sincerity or goodwill.

I never buy to sell, in other words!

I think once people know you are a genuine collector who simply wants to cherish and enjoy these films, this seems to go someway towards other Windows of opportunity opening for you.

That's it Andrew, some collectors will home in on you when they know what your likes and dislikes are, and will only deal with you. I'm happy to pay a fair price for anything
on my wanted list, and a bit more for the very special features. I have missed a few in the past, but my collection and wanted list is now almost complete.

You have probably one the best collections of Disney features I have seen Andrew, all very good to excellent because of your due diligence, I have a couple maybe 3 at
most, so I 'm never likely to catch you up anytime soon. I do believe if you miss some thing along the way, one will come around again if your prepared to wait, its all about the timing and not who you know or what you know.

Agreed my friend, so far as your last statement is concerned and I thank you for those kind words at the beginning Paul.

I've been fortunate with Disney stuff by latching onto it early doors back in the hobby when it was a little more lively still.
If I was starting now, I wouldn't find one half, I know I wouldn't.

It's not what everyone's after also, which always helps.
If ultimately the titles I wanted were all of the Arnie films, for example, I'd still be waiting for most of them now!

For me personally, it's never been about "connections" simply because, I don't really have any.
Just many different collectors that ive grown to know through the hobby and one or two I can genuinely call true friends of mine.

Still many great great people to deal with in this hobby who are totally upfront and would never wrong anyone, I'm pleased to say.

One piece of advice I would always give to anyone seeking one title in particular, is lock the money up in a drawer somewhere so you don't spend it before you find it.
In this game, it's like a number 53 bus.
None turn up for an age, then 3 come all at once!

You really do need to be able to make a move whenever the things you're after surface. One thing I've learned time and time again, is the decent stuff never hangs around long. There is always someone with a wallet full of cash it would seem!
