I think I got lucky

#1 by Vidar Olavesen , Wed Aug 26, 2015 10:10 pm

Today, I've got a fairly good deal. About 300 GBP for the following 16mm
Harry and Son
Tank
Personal Best
Just Tell Me What You Want
The Osterman Weekend
Romancing the Stone, Scope
Class
First Born
The Philadelphia Experiment
Bad Boys
Song of the South (Wohoo)

I think this will be worth the money :-)

Worth it for Romancing The Stone alone Vidar if they're all in good condition.
Potential for a real bargain buy here Vidar!

Today I spent $345 on just one film

Romancing is on Low Fade polyester and in good condition. Song of the South has some fade in places I think, but overall it's suppose to be quite good

Most of the others are LPP also

Many of these probably have the subtitles in Swedish, Norwegian or Danish, though Song of the South was imported from the US and has no subtitles. That's quite a rare print, I think I've seen it once in 2 1/2 years. I am very happy with it. Picking up on the 19th of September and might get some more 5-10 GBP finds there

You lucky devil! It sounds like you made out like a bandit Vidar. Congrats on the new additions to your celluloid family.

Thank you. Look forward to the Nordic meeting. Hope to find some 5-10 more. Usually go cheap when people go home and not want to bring anything with them back.

Well done that man, although I'm starting to think Vidar does these deals at gunpoint.

He gets great deals because he has that kind, innocent look to him. People think: "That nice fellow deserves a GREAT deal"! He does look like the Duncan side of my family. We might be cousins :-)

Robert,
I'm not surprised as there are so many collectors still in your part of the world.

Vidar,
I forgot to mention that "First Born" is a good film, but it's been maybe 30 years since I've seen it.

We have an agency foreign guy at my place of work who is the Spitting Image of Vidar, with no word of a lie!!
Even wears the exact same glasses!!

Next time I'm on shift I'll grab a photo of this guy just to show you all what I mean! Ha Ha

The resemblance is uncanny, it must be Vidars brother or something of the likes!

you are correct though Duncan, Vidar has one of those faces which everyone wants to do good by. Lucky Vidar!!

Oops sorry, I meant Timothy of course! Lol.
Gets me every time when people have surnames the same as our Christian names. Ha ha.

Apology Timothy, I am sorry.

Going back to Vidars wonderful "catch", I really don't know where I could store my films if I was reeling in 10 at time like Vidar does on these occasions.

Living room ceilings sagging as it is! Ha ha.

Note to self...must buy a larger house somewhere along this journey!)

Well done Vidar!

I was on the phone as soon as I got the list, but PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT was gone! At least now I know it's found a good home!

I was tempted to ask about SONG OF THE SOUTH as well but I was so sure it was gone! And of course it was!

I got the STAR TREK III - THE SEARCH FOR SPOCK though, but as you know there were two prints and the mint print was reserved so need to see if the buyer comes through or else I'll take the other print with a few very thin lines in a couple of parts. Half the price then so still ok! And as you know this is polyester Low Fade!

I really wanted BWANA DEVIL from 1952 but that was gone! Damn! No subtitles either....

Did get the two shorts I wanted though!

I'm sure the seller (very decent guy) wouldn't mind expanding his selling territory! Ask him when you go to Copenhagen in september Vidar. Maybe our friends on the forum could get his lists posted here!

I can't go. My employer got his claws in me.... Life is hard.....

Sad to hear that you can't go Kurt ... Once a year and this is the time your employer needs you :-/

Yes, can ask if he wants to join here and sell. Good idea
