Yes Douglas that can be a problem. Just when you think you have got there with your collection along comes another one.

I collect 200' and 400' digests. I've got a handful of 50' reels too but like Vidar, I feel they are over with too quickly.
Heck no Tim,you're coming along with me. One day a large parcel will arrive on your doorstep and will be quite heavy. You'll be the pride Father of a bouncing 16mm projector!
Yeah right Doug, and along after the postmaster will be the Easter Bunny, hopping down the trail (probably throwing eggs at me)!
Oh my! Have I gotten off topic AGAIN?
Uh oh Tim...Soon a knock will come on your door and they will take your computer (or ipad) away!
Seriously though Doug, it's terrific that you are making the leap to 16mm! You better start making room for those big reels!
I collect features and shorts. I´m not a fan of digests. I agree that 50´is to short for anything, but I still have a lot of them, purely of nostalgic reasons. That was how it all began in the early sixties. Then came the 200´sound films in standard and Super 8. In the seventies I bought some american Tv serials from Blackhawk, but still didn´t own a 16mm projector. In the late 80´s I found two Siemens 2000 projectors on a school auction. I had to buy them ( Appx 15£ each ) They are built like tanks and I realy like them. the last 15 years I have bought lots of Disney and Laurel & Hardy shorts and 4 big collections including well over 100 features. The latests big buy was a 35mm collection ( 36 35mm features and 4 16mm features ).

I also collect features and shorts as I equally don't really see the point of digests for film shows. No sooner are you getting into the film...it's over!
I also collect trailers of films later released than the features and trailers of any features I have. If I am making up a trailer and advertisement reel, these tend to be around 300ft long.
All my collection is Super 8mm and I really don't at this stage have any desire to collect any other format as I really wouldn't have the storage space for 16mm and I also think I would be heavily put off by the condition of most of them from what I can gather.
Furthermore, Super 8mm is the only format that allows optimization of the soundtrack to Stereo from today's sources further enhancing my enjoyment of the hobby especially when viewing the collection.
Mostly interested in features. I did buy a few digests in my early days of Super 8, and when I went over to 16mm I bought a few shorts. Some of my 16mm features are as good as the stuff I bought new in Super 8, but I don't mind the odd splice. I consider myself lucky that I can own films that were never available in Super 8.
I second Panayotis, anything with sprocket holes, any language, any length any gauge except the really big stuff like 35mm.
Clyde it looks as if you are Douglas according to me. A case of mistaken identity. Sorry about that. hahahaha !!!
