The star - who was born Betty Jean Striegle in Hawthorne, California - was living at an assisted living facility in Brighton, England when she died.

Dream Wife (1953) where she played a Middle Eastern princess alongside Cary Grant. She also starred in two Tarzan films: Tarzan And The Lost Safari (1957) and Tarzan The Magnificent (1960)

She retired in 1965 her last role was in the television series of The Third Man.

In 1952 she married English actor Peter Grant whom she was with until his death in 1992. They shared three children together.
