American Sniper

I saw this on blu ray for the first time the other evening.
I didn't know anything about the movie if i am honest prior to watching it. I looked at the back cover and saw it was a true story and also Clint Eastwood produced and directed it. A guaranteed good viewing, The movie is really good but i didn't expect the ending at all, talk about very sad, but the music used "The funeral" by the maestro Ennio Morriconnie has the audience in total silence during the whole of the end credits and funeral sequence. One of the most powerful endings to any movie ive seen.
I'm probably one of the few to have seen this movie so here is that moving sequence if you you dont choke theirs something wrong with you.

Was offered a 35mm print, but since it is digitally shot, I passed

Decent film, but they didn’t do the ending right. I saw a documentary or perhaps it was on Dr. Phil

I thought the ending was well handled though. It wasn't necessary to see him shot.
On the blu ray extras his Wife seemed happy with it all. They had to change it during the making of the film as it he was murdered during the production.

But true story, shouldn’t it end like it happened? To tell a true story, it should be correct and since the ending is depressing, it should not be brightened up. My opinion of course

It could be that you may have mis-interpreted the ending, i thought the way it was done was very effective to viewer and very sad, done this way it plays on your mind, the door closing in slow motion fade out then fade in to this sequence on the link and that music makes goose bumps. Reading views on-line its one of the very few films that had the audience sat in silence all the way through the end titles.
I think if they used any other director the murder would have been shown and this would have have much less effect on the mind. I do see what your saying though

I have seen this film when it first came out,and must say I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
A very moving film very well made especially the ending.
Have to go with Tom on this one.

Yes, it isn’t filmed, it is videoed. Film to film, yes, digital to film, no thanks

I think it wasn’t too expensive either

35mm takes too much room and if I had to choose Gremlins or American Sniper, Gremlins win every time. I want to keep my number of 35mm prints to 10 to 15
