Welcome back Tim! Its been too long!
#23 Vidar, AFAIK b/w film doesn't fade. I expect your Harold Lloyd print was just a poor quality dupe, hence the whited out faces.

I have heard that b/w films were sometimes made on color stock. But then they word turn red, I suppose.

Eivind, I have had B&W prints on colour stock which have gone warm, looks a bit weird, mainly Derann news reels.

I have some silent L&hs that unknown to me at the time were on colour stock, and they have turned red.

Do they appear different from a color film gone red? I guess they do before they get totally red, perhaps.

I haven't projected them Eivind, I just held one up to the light and it was red and white. Very disappointing. They all came in plain white boxes. Bought them from Perry's Movies when I took a trip to London in the early 80s.

We are OK with B&W filmstock. The bleached out faces you mention were probably down to a bad lab. I have that on a Derann trailer reel.

Those B/W with bleached out parts. Bought the Movietone Last ever from Derann brand new was very poor print. I set some back too for a refund they were so bad. The problems only seemed to be on the 200/400ft titles the features were usually OK.
I still love the smell of film in the morning

Strange that, David, as I also bought the last edition of Movietone, and my copy was perfect, I just didn't care for the oversized plastic case. It does make you wonder how this rubbish could pass both the labs and Derann, especially as i believe Derann recorded the sound themselves.
