Worse than mint,..

Even worse than the now fully inaccurate description of nigh on just about any cine film ever made being described as mint,.. is the description you often see of a film being described as "Minty"!

How can an object be an adjective??????

What does this even attempt to mean???

Smells like Wrigley's Spearmint Gum or the herb perhaps???

Who on earth are these people? (!!)

That's a favourite description by someone in the other forum; broke one minute, and flush the next. Then we had someone else describing a 16mm print as Mint; the film is probably 30 years old; how many times has it been ran, and how many owners. Some films may look as good as the day they were made, but they are not mint. I don't like that word Minty either; they probably mean it looks like Newy. Sounds like somebody talking to a baby; this is what 11 years schooling has done for them.

Super 8 prints are a minty bit stronger.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

Perhaps this new descriptive term is in fact a new"smell" rather than v/s.
In each tin, plastic holder is a Polo to enhace the smell, heaven forbid the film is full of holes

Yes its a new smell in fact not vs ,it is a smell of spearmint gum ,more common to 16mm film documentarys as used in schools and kids have put gum on the tins instead of under the desk ,what ever next

"Minty" - a term used to describe sought after collectables to make non-new (used) items sound better than they are.
I think GOOD condition would be the best rating for film, not mint, doublemint, or cinnamon.

For me, I have no problem with minty, IF it has no fade, no scratches, splices. Problem is they call it mint even if it has flaws

I have no mint or minty films myself

Minty has no meaning so far as a noun is concerned Vidar, simple as that.

It's nothing to do with "having no problems if a print is nice etc etc" , it simply makes no sense at all in English Language to describe a film as "minty".

It's just nonsense beyond belief, in the same manner as Robert described in #2

The van states that they deliver and dispose of your old bed.
I bet there aren't too many old ones smelling "Minty" that's for sure! 😂😂

I came across a minty listing on Ebay, but I think it isn't. Color shift does not qualify a product as minty since that is not how it originally looked. The exact description, “PRINT MINTY REDDISH TINGE”

I received a film only recently that was faded , but described as near mint. I haven't watched it yet, just checked it on the rewinds, and it looks in great shape, with original leaders and tails, just faded.
