Some things just never change!

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Thu Apr 12, 2018 1:27 am

After reading this one, the old Bruce Hornsby & The Range track sprung to mind.
Whether Alan can or cannot part with this one now without taking a big hit, he at least warns others of the dangers of taking somebody's vague and misleading description and a few excellent screenshots as ever implying a print is the same throughout. It ain't those photographed solo thin black lines Alan will ever have had any issue with.
Well done that man!

No doubt a Floridian now feels the exact same way.

The seller is experienced, and must have been fully aware of the emulsion scratch, but preferred not to mention it. I hope it will now be sorted as the seller has responded to the post. Looks like a seller to be avoided.

I don't know what I was doing in the 80s, because I've never heard of Nick Hornby or this song before?

It was something of a white elephant hit for him here in the UK Robert so you are perfectly forgiven.

I don't remember much surrounding the 80's aside from one giant haze. It was party time large for myself, my girlfriend back then and our great great friends in those days.
Work hard, play even harder was the motto!

Tonight we're gonna party like its 1999! 😁😁

I wish I could still grow a mullet like Waddle had! 😁😁😁

I think my single buying days were mostly the 70s; though my particular taste was for 50s and 60s music. I did buy one or two during the 80s; the Eurythmics spring to mind.

I had to look that one up Andrew. I only bought 'Who's that girl', I like a few of their other songs, like 'There must be an Angel'. Trying to think of what else I bought in the 80s, Cyndi Lauper 'Time after Time', and Bronski Beat 'Small Town Boy'.

I was into the New Romantics, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, Human League. The 80's was also the first time I ever visited the Northern film Convention in Blackpool, that in itself is a very long story, actually finding where the convention was being held (no mobile or internet in those days) was a big task, luckily my Mum & Dad lived in Blackpool at the time so I had a base and a phone to find out, great times.

Good news now that the matter appears to have been amicably resolved for Alan.

Shame it had to be resolved at all though, in the first instance.

It only serves to highlight once again the importance of adding as much detail as possible at the time of sale and the importance of complete honesty and transparency at the time of advertising films and other goods for sale.

It only ever otherwise leads to inconvenience, disappointment and extra expense to the seller if not.
That is quite besides the possibility of damage to their reputation for maybe future sales otherwise.

Offering other films etc after the initial disappointment of first viewing the film(s) the buyer purchased, never compensates for the disappointment felt nor can it ever be a suitable replacement or consolidation for the fact that all a buyer ever wants in the first instance, is the things they pay for to be as described at the point of sale and as they expect as a result, without any nasty surprises.
