Blimy Robert, 56 quid all in??? In that condition that certainly is a bargain and definatly a gem.
Thats a great write up there, i think it should also be copied and pasted into the 16mm reviews there if you could.
I didnt realise Rod Steiger was in this one, he is one of my favourite actors and plays the best of all film Napoleons in Waterloo.
I have to be very honest here Robert, i did not realise that Alan Ladd committed suicide. Imagine if every film was as good a print as this and all at that price!! Great stuff, keep them coming. There must be more gems out there from other collectors as well.

And I have one called "Shane"

Very much not for sale though.

R.I.P. Alan Ladd - January 29th 1964 - Palm Springs, California.

The Red Beret, I've just seen was a British produced film by Warwick Films.

Brilliant film Andrew. I love the part where Shane rides into town, with the boy and dog hot on his heels, then watching from under the swing doors, as he takes on Jack Palance. Tom, Alan Ladd was troubled by his past, as a young man, he saw his English born mother commit suicide in front of him by taking ant killer.

Thanks for the comments there Robert. I agree of course, it's a brilliant classic film and one that took me a good number of years to finally hunt down.
Others had this for sale on many occasions but I was never lucky enough to land one despite taking other titles from these same overseas sellers.
It is one which is always in demand still in the U.S. so I was always last in line for a print until finally I learned of a print being sold here in the UK.

I couldn't of course "like" your comments above for obvious reasons Robert given the tragic circumstances that Alan had endured during his own life and then no doubt, consequently had perhaps something to do with his own life ending in the manner it tragically did.

I'm glad you eventually secured a copy; i'll bet that looks good on the big screen, only ever seen it on TV. Tom, here's a publicity photo with Steiger and Ladd. The film was made in B&W, but the front of house stills were colour.

It's one of many in recent times, I still haven't got around to featuring here yet Robert.

It's time will come though hopefully one day, along with the rest

It's a lovely print Robert, it really is.

Another favourite print of our collecting friend Paul Adsett btw.

Interesting to see that the Mountain Films has different pictures for each reel. I have a couple of films two copies of Way Out West not had chance to watch them yet. Bought the first one 3x400ft Walton version then a few weeks later the 4x400ft Mountain films came up.

The easy bit for Gems if its on reel film thats a gem.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

I first saw the Mountain version back in 1973, but only had a silent projector. When I moved into Sound 2 years later it had been discontinued.

One of the young actors in "13 West Street" is Chris Robinson, who went on to co-star in the TV drama "12 O'Clock High" between 1965-1967. (Just a bit of trivia for those who like this kind of thing.)
