Finally have 35mm in my basement!!

#1 by Michael Lattavo , Wed Aug 09, 2017 11:20 pm

After 9 months of storing it (and learning how to use it) at the office, my wife and two sons went out of town for the weekend, leaving me with my 2 yr old daughter. I thought........"this is my chance!" Loaded it up at the office, first to head downstairs was the base.

Next was speakers, double mut, sound head, projector head, and lamphouse - was so tired by that point, thought I was going to drop the lamp!

Luckily my measurements were spot-on, the top reel just fits!

Ran all the wires and electrical cords, and did a sound and picture test - no screen yet, the concrete wall will have to suffice for now. Upon her return, my wife was surprisingly (and thankfully) very cool about it! Which is good, because I wouldn't have the strength to move it back upstairs anyway!

Next step will be to search for large reels for the double-mut, but until that time I will be more than happy to run 20min reels! My ultimate goal is to finish that half of the basement, build a projection booth (its quite a load machine), and have a permanent set-up for 8mm, Super 8, 16mm and 35mm. I've got my work cut out for me, but at least its fun work!

Great post thank you Michael!

You will have a fine cinema room there in the none too distant future with some very serious equipment in it!

I couldn't even fit the speakers in my house!

Absolutely brilliant,I'm sure this setup will provide hours of great entertainment for you and family.
All you need now is to get the Mrs to sell the ice cream😂😂
Great pics📽📽
