Adam West TV's 1960s series “Batman” — died Friday night

Adam West — an actor defined and also constrained by his role in the 1960s series “Batman” — died Friday night in Los Angeles. He was 88.

The best Batman, always remember in one episode where he looked at the camera a you could see him putting his tongue in his cheek.

On 8mm I don't think he was represented in many. Soldier in the Rain was an early release in the Derann lists from the 60's

Mr West thank you for making me laugh and entertained. R.I.P.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

That is a shame, loved his Batman, we have the Indi 8 advert reel advertising the 1966 Batman film.

Wouldn't mind an episode of Batman on 16mm. Dave????

Have i told anyone i'm after Die Hard?

He plays Col. Dan McReady in one of my favourite films, the 1964 "Robinson Crusoe on Mars", although it was a relatively small part. I was lucky enough to obtain a 35mm print in Techicolor and Techniscope, as well as a very long Technicolor trailer. As you are all probably aware, Techniscope was shot without the use of an anamorphic lens using only half the standard frame, in other words a frame height of just two perfs instead of four, resulting in a near Scope ratio. The image was then blown up and squeezed onto standard 35mm film to be projected with a standard anamorphic lens. Whilst this halved the cost of the negative, the resulting image is grainier than a Scope picture filmed in the normal way, although it is not noticeable on my small screen.

I hadn't heard about Techniscope before. It was interesting, and thanks for sharing that info!
