Anyone ordered or read a book called" A Thousand Cuts " by Dennis Bartok and Jeff Joseph.I have just ordered my copy the review is the bizarre underground world of collectors and dealers who saved the movies. From this I suspect the contents relates to the USA but I await my copy.

Is Bob Monkhouse mentioned? He was an real collector of film and video. He got done by the KRS too. Note sure if the story is true, but some of the silents he had were the last surviving prints. The police destroyed some and he was found not guilty.

I still love the smell of film in the morning

That's because his name was Bob Monkhouse and not Bob Smith, David.

An early Christmas present to myself.
I was just reading the introduction and the following quote made me wonder how apt the following description is of this hobby and its enthouiasts.
Maybe you are one of them?
"If anything it's a sort of mad (Irish) (wake) for an underground subculture of often paranoid, secretive ,eccentric ,obsessive ,and definitely mad film collectors and dealers, who made movies their own private religion"!!
Anybody recognise themselves ?😂😂😂📽📽

All apply to myself except the paranoia bit and the secrecy bit! 😂😂

Having said that, I know loads of collectors who are secretive for whatever reason (never have quite understood the reason for any of that nonsense),...
and no doubt with half an ounce of cannabis resin inside them, then that'd cover the paranoid bit also! 😂😂😂
