On Monday 14th November at 7.00pm in the JillCRraigie Cinema,Roland Lewinsky Building,Plymouth University, there will be a showing of Straw Dogs on 35mm.
This film will be presented by Johnny Mains in conversation with Susan George.
Film presentation by yours truly.......
Anyone near enough to attend I'm sure will enjoy the evening tickets are I think £6.
Today checked the first few feet of the film and here are some pics.

Yes there is a green line down the picture in photo one and two. 😂😂

I bet that's not it though Gwyn is it? Lol.

Anyhow great to see this fabulous motion picture making its way back onto the silver screen for a public audience. Just wish the cinema was somewhere around these parts, not some 350 miles away! 😂😂

Andrew, you are right about the line, when the credits went through there were worse lines than on the pics but once the actual film got under way it's much better. When I opened the box I was dreading the smell, thankfully none. Also I was wondering would there be any colour left and low and behold there is.The print is from the BFI and it does look in good condition so fingers crossed.
No I'm afraid that is not the right answer to the error........📽📽

It's years since I've seen it Gwyn, but is it reversed or anything like that? It certainly looks ok for colour and sharpness etc

With so little else to find fault from the pictures here, it had to be something like that Gwyn thanks.

My 4 x 400 foot feature of Fright is one i very much regret selling.
What we did years ago to get a few quick quid.

Well everyone tonight I showed Straw Dogs on 35mm at Plymouth University.
The film was in very good condition and those who attended, the largest crowd for a long time, all enjoyed the evening.
The only problem was Susan George, taken ill this morning and was unable to attend. One person was comming from Yorkshire especially to see her, fortunately he was contacted en route to tell him the bad news.
The film would in my opinion not look out of place today the violence is as extreme as in films today,no wonder along with the rape scene the censor got upset.
Anyway a good evening was had by all and some more pics of the evening below.some taken before the audience arrived as we were testing the film.
