But as the days get shorter and the nights get colder staying in with a film and a few buddies is going to be on the agenda even more!

A quiet, beautiful, day here in Michigan. As it gets darker earlier more opportunities to screen film in the evening!!!
I'm planning on setting up my Elmo tonight to watch some Super-8 / Standard 8 silent films. I have a backlong of films I want to watch.
I couldn't for one second, have predicted that I would have had zero interest in getting a projector out from within its case for at least one whole month before days like today in recent years.
As you guys here know, I'm one of those people who is simply devout in running and enjoying my films as often as I can ever plausibly get the opportunity to do so.
Whether it's 90 degrees outside or Zero, whether the Sun is gracing our city or whether we don't even begin to see daylight at all some days.., I simply adore viewing and projecting real film.
Then suddenly, just as life has an uncanny knack of doing to us all from time to time, the rug is very suddenly and cruelly pulled from underneath our feet.
Our worlds are simply turned upside down.
At times like these, we come to be reminded with a very large crashing catastrophic effect, that our family and loved ones in general, are absolutely everything to us all in our existence on planet earth.
Without them all, we have nothing.
We love our hobbies in fair weather times, but when the shit really hits the fan, I'd like to think that everyone here values their treasured people in their lives in the manner I know from experience people like Tom, Del and myself do.
A stark cruel reality check has definitely been given by our maker today to ourselves ,to the point where I doubt my energies towards any hobby could or should, ever be the same ever again.
Treasure, prioritize and value intensely, every single moment you will ever have, all too soon, all what we all take for granted, may well be gone forever.
We carry a very very heavy broken heart this evening, all in our entire household.
God blessed, better times must surely lie ahead.

Andrew: I'm sorry to hear that things have been difficult recently for you and sending best wishes and hopefully better days in the near future.
God bless you Douglas. Guys like yourself on here, mean the world to me.
We have some truly wonderful people in this hobby of ours. I've known this for some time but I consider you all who post regularly, as my own personal friends the amount of time we spend here.
I value each and every one of you, and I'd just like to say thank you to each and every one of you who has expressed words of comfort and compassion both privately as well as on here now.
They are greatly appreciated by myself and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
"C'Mon Baggy, Get With The Beat"
You're most welcome Andrew and it's passionate members (like yourself) that keep this hobby alive well into the 21st century!
Apologies for the digression here this evening. I recognize this probably isn't the place really.
However, as said, in our world, as a group of people joined by one solitary common interest, these are our people, our friends and therefore our place to share our emotions very occasionally, outside the world of film.
"C'Mon Baggy, Get With The Beat"
I am truly sorry to hear you have such difficult times, Andrew! I wish you all the best!

I can sympathise with you Andrew, I have not got over losing my brother a couple or so years ago, the last thing I wanted to do at the time was repair projectors and very nearly gave up, I hope things are soon better for you and your family.

Dave- Due to my upbringing I have a bit of a softspot for those old organs- do you have any pictures of the innards working? The music being fed through? That was always the bit that interested me

I remember there was a cracking set that went to Fairford Steam rally until it disbanded, used to move from the showground to outside the main pub in the village on the Saturday night and I (half) remember many nights listening to it playing along whilst a steam engine or two whistled and chuffed in the background.

I just now (literally) got my internet service back after six VERY LONG days without it. Our modem/router box went kaput. We have DSL and had to get the box from our internet provider. Now I have SO much catching up to do here...
