You think about that it is expensive? Or that I should wait until I know who is a official sales point? Sorry for being slow.

Do we know who the seller was claiming to buy from when rebottling? It would be interesting to know if it is possible to check with the source if it has been bought in large quantity or not. Maybe I just have a couple of bottles with WD-40 :-/ Have seemed to working great, though.

And some Tom!

My last one was £38 btw purchased less than a year ago.

No one seems to know for sure Eivind what's in the smaller bottles. I suppose the only way to find out would be to send samples from it and the genuine bottled item over to a lab for an analysis if anyone is overly concerned.

I am not too concerned, but will stop using it until I get a genuine one. I managed to use it on reel one of my precious north by northwest just before this broke. Would not be too happy if I broke that one. I have used it on other films as well, but most of those are replaceable. I guess I could be much worse off. In a year or so I will know if I have made a huge mistake or not :-/

I doubt this will necessarily be the case Eivind as the example of the copied product that ruined prints after one year happened a while ago it was said and was a completely different example.

I doubt the exact same type of tampering would happen for a second time.

Was just thinking: As Brad constantly tells that he is the only one knowing the ingredients, and the whole thing smells WD-40. Maybe it has just one ingredient: WD-40 ;-) We would never know :-) Just kidding, but one could wonder how he made this in the first place. Has he extensive chemistry knowledge?

I think you should all read Eddie Smyth's reply on 8mm Forum.

I don't know Smyth well enough to judge if he tells the truth, but I will say that I am a bit worried, especially because of the bottles. And Brad also has a point with the margin. Either Smyth does this just for fun and does not care about low margins, or he has put something else in there too, and who knows what that is. As I said, I don't know him. But things can indeed react with plastic, so even if it is 100% real deal in the bottles I am still a bit worried. Anyways; I will order a new original from cinemasupplies.co.uk.

Well this is really turning into a bun fight,I have a couple of glass bottles of filmguard decanted from a genuine bottle from work.I am fortunate that way as buying a large bottle would not be economical in any way.I use it very sparingly and so far the glass bottles have not disintegrated (lol).
I do think it's a great shame this liquid is not marketed in smaller bottles from either the official scource or some other authorised manner as either way I'm sure it would be a win win situation for all concerned.
Perhaps now this is being "aired" in public so to speak some good will come out of it at the end of the day and smaller bottles will be forthcoming.
At the end of the day I think it's a shame it's come to this as this hobby does not need this, hopefully this matter will be sorted to everyone's satisfaction 😀📽📽

You are right. I should probably have dropped the last thing I wrote. I am not so interested, really, in any side of this. I am just worried about my film and try to figure out if I have put my films in danger or not :-)

This is typical of Brad Miller throwing his toys out of the pram but at the end of the day yes he has a patent but he is not loosing sales, he has sold the goods to Jack Roe here in the UK and Jack Roe has sold the goods to Eddie Smythe, what is the problem if Eddie Smythe is putting the goods into smaller more manageable containers for 8mm users.its not as thou you can buy it from Brad Miller as it cant be shipped from the USA due to its contents.
Their is a patent for this product BUT is it just in the USA or does it cover the UK if not their is nothing stopping Eddie Smythe applying to get the patent for the UK but its going to cost a lot of money.
