Now, the only official place to purchase FilmGuard from here in the UK it would seem....

Oh, the other guy has quit? Then it has to be bought in big bottles too, I guess.

Apparently so Eivind, though that's all I've ever bought anyhow to be honest.
I just wish they made a bigger bottle! 😂😂

It does seem that the product from Cinema Supplies could not be genuine FilmGuard. I understand that the genuine product is only available in 32oz bottles.

Yes that is the only quantity Cinemasupplies sell, or at least was the case?

I've had several bottles from them previously, each with seal in tact and the official branding on box and bottle.
900ml or 32oz (well 31.67 but hey!😂)

I've just never seen it advertised as "in stock" but then with a price of £0.00 against it???

Very odd.

When they're open for business today, I will give them a call.

Cinema Supplies advertise FilmGuard as a spray in a 900ml size.

Yes that's how it comes Maurice.

You spray it onto a cloth or remove the top if you want to decanter it.
You get some rollers in there also for if you're using it in the professional cinema.

You used to always get an instruction leaflet also but recently the ones I've purchased didn't have this in there any longer.

As I understand the situation, FilmGuard has never been sold in any size container other than a 32oz bottle.

Yes that is the what cinemasupplies sell. They call it 900ml because we are in the EU....for now.

When it arrives it has 32oz on the box label and bottle label.

A bit like why we don't buy a pint of milk or 5lb of king Edwards here any more.

I wouldn't mind a big bottle at all. But when someone that has never used it want to test it, the smaller bottle was nice.

The test has already been established Eivind by the countless recommendations and satisfied users over the decades. They can't all be wrong.

Brad who invented it, ain't very happy apparently with his product being re bottled (if indeed that is the case), It is a patented product and all are distributed with a seal.

I just hope this hasn't impacted on our supply chain here in the UK for anyone who has only ever wished to purchase the original and full sized product and is happy to pay for such.

I've just phoned Jack Roe.
None in stock for a week or so I was informed and when it is back in stock, I'm afraid I have been reliably informed to expect a very serious price hike!

Ouch!

First British Gas, now FilmGuard, whatever next!

Best start saving now I'd suggest!

Yes and I've got over a pint left but as most things regarding our hobby now, we like to carry a spare or two.
I only wish I'd had a crystal ball and bought two or three last time.

I'd have been much much better off doing so in hindsight.
Hindsight is such a wonderful thing though!

I think I will retract my statement regarding my wishes for an even larger official bottle of FilmGuard.
I'd need a bank loan perhaps.

I do understand that he doesn't like the re bottling. It will be much easier to sell fake products, and his brand logo etc will not be as visible.

It's all patented Eivind so it's as simple as that for anyone trying to sell the product in anything other than its original format.
(If indeed anyone actually was)

Like all these types of goods, you can typically only buy them from authorized dealers of which Jack Roe was one of them historically.

Wenn Sie hier auf Links zu eBay klicken und einen Kauf tätigen, kann dies dazu führen, dass diese Website eine Provision erhält.

Eddie Smyth sells them on eBay in 100ml and 200ml bottles for £7.99 and £14.99. It's called 'FilmShield' because he's no longer an official distributor. Apparently Brad Miller didn't like him decantering it into smaller bottles, so the way he got round it was to rename it, but it is the real stuff:

Quite alarming. I am not so much afraid of the bottles I bought does not contain FilmGuard. I bought when it was claimed to be re-bottled. I am more worried about what was said about some types bottles reacting with the ingredients and making something that could destroy the films.

I think I will order a genuine bottle now :-/

As things stand Tom, I honestly don't know for certain whether that is the case or not?
What we do know from the inventor, is he claims the type of bottle that is used to contain the product, really matters apparently.
By decanter, into different containers, this somehow affects the chemistry of the product apparently and some of the earlier attempts to replicate this chemistry have finished up with films being ruined after 12 months he was saying.
Scary!!

I think we may all get the shock of our lives Eivind when we order our next genuine quart sized bottle of F.G!
