Hitchcock and childrens book

#1 by Eivind Mork , Thu Aug 04, 2016 9:30 am

I found this in an old book store. It's Norwegian, but it says: Hitchcock and the three detectives meets the whispering mummy. It's from 1965. I believe Hitchcock only wrote the foreword and has nothing more to do with the script, but I just had to buy it as I also like old children books from that time :-)

There was a lot of this of thing in that period- Hollywood legends lending their name and little else to all sorts of random merchandise (some good, most low quality cack) for the very easy money.

Vincent Price was a good one for this, the Simpsons even reference it at one point with a Vincent Price egg painting magic kit.

I'm not saying the book is cack, by the way. Could be one of the good pieces of merch

I must ask my son as soon as he finishes reading it. He is reading it now :-)

I remember these, but never read one. I was 11 years old 1965.

Tyler mentioning Vincent Price made me think of something I ran across years ago. Sears Roebuck sold a series of "Vincent Price Movie Maker Outfits." Not sure how many styles were released but the idea was pretty cool for the time:

I really like the hand drawn artwork on the cover. It reminds me of vintage film posters.
