Thinking back to the days of Movie Maker magazine, what would have happened to all the Ten Best amateur film productions that were awarded accolades? Are they available anywhere to view?

That's a great question there Stuart.
Maybe someone on the forum can help you there.
I know however that some or most of the folk may have passed away
or some of the films may have been transferred to DVD or Tape by the relevant
film maker/s.
I know for a fact that Ron MiIller of Group Five productions has died.
Ron made such great films as MOVIEMAN which was released by Perry's Movies on Super 8mm 3x 400'.
Also DONALD OF THE COLOURS which I showed for him in a Cinema I was once Chief Projectionist.
Also VORTEX and OILS FOR NEPTUNE.
They were all filmed on 16mm.
Do you remember those ?
Sadly David, I've seen nary a single Ten Best production, I could only read about them in the magazines at the time. I can't help thinking there'd be a fantastic BBC 4 documentary waiting to be made about some of these marvellousp productions.

Yes Stuart it certainly would make a good documentary.
A lot of these productions even though low budget costs and amateur put
a lot of those Pro-Hollywood big buck productions to shame.
The recent posting i put on about our little war film effort actually made it into the top ten of the IAC,(institute of amateur cinematographers), of that year. We have the blue seal certificate from the IAC and also entered it into the Kodak competition where we won a 4 gold star certificate. Great days.
