Electric rewinder!

#1 by Gwyn Morgan , Tue Jun 28, 2016 9:29 pm

Just a little thing I knocked up over the last couple of days.It started when my daughter was throwing out one of those fans that stand on a long pole and go from side to side.Any way it fell and broke the arm to stand on,so I thought well maybe I can use the bits.So I stripped the motor from the fan and the mechanism that made the fan go from side to side, removed the on/ off speed control and made up a stand for the motor to stand alone on,with the controls.
There is a locking washer who stops the spool from sitting tight to the motor, and one of my stand alone arm attachments hold the reel on,as it has a rubber ring on the inside.
The controls are simple a button for slow, medium, fast and off.
The largest spool it will take is 2200,and if I start slow ,then medium then fast speed it moves the film at quite a rate.
Obviously I would not do this to a film that had not been hand checked first,so there was hardly a chance of the film being damaged.
(The fan is going on a wind vein in the shape of a plane😃😃😃)
Anyway it was fun to make don't know how long it will work well but I hate throwing things away, surprising what one can recycle 📽📽📽

Good idea! If you're up to soldering you might be able to wire the fan to a potentiometer rather than the fast, medium, slow buttons and that way you can manage the speed even better.

That said, this works well enough, good plan!

Trust that "old bugger" Hardy to complain, bet he'd have loved them in his day, if someone had given me a hoist, instead of carrying stuff
manually up a ladder, or my poor labourers, certainly. Just kidding our Dave, we know you are a "modern kiddie" really.
