Within the "domains" of popular music and rock i think that bands like "The Beatles" and "The Rolling Stones" and "Led Zeppelin" are among the most
media driven hyped up and at at best "average music "bands that millions of a gullible public fell for and were duped by in doing so. Not unlike some of the crap bands that make it big today. All based on pure media myths.
So what in your opinion is the most Hyped - Up / overrated film ever of any decade ?

Hard to pick one film. From about 2000+ most of them are overrated. For the 80's E.T.

I don't want to offend Tom, I know its a favourite of his, but I nominate "Saving Private Ryan", a war film made about WW2,
that mentions Britain twice I think, in a war we had been fighting long before they entered it. Typical schmaltz from Spielberg.

Difficult to say. I remember 'Gone with the Wind' used to be classed as either the greatest, or one of the greatest films made, and I remember my father saying that he could name a dozen films he thought better.

Robert, that is actually one I considered for the "prize" of most overrated. I think the main character Scarlett is obnoxious. No warmth at all and it was so loooooooong. I was bored and used two days to get through it.

I have a copy on the unmentionable, butI viewed it only once in nearly 9 years.

It's only my opinion, I am not deciding what others like :-) People like Steven Seagal, Van Damme and those action type films. I think they're bad too. Each to his own, right? A lot hate Woody Allen, which is a favourite of mine, at least the older ones.

Also Terminqtor 2, which I do like and rate it about 8/10, but it's not better than Terminator. Titanic (Camerons) is also overrated

I was just thinking of those old trailers that always claimed " THE GREATEST FILM EVER MADE IN THE HISTORY OF MOTION PICTURES".
Of course they never were and never will be such a thing.
