A very warm welcome to our latest member

#1 by Andrew Woodcock ( deleted ) , Tue Sep 15, 2015 11:24 am

I'd just like to offer on behalf of everyone here a very warm and sincere welcome to Paul Browning who joined the forum this past hour!

Paul is an extremely knowledgeable collector and someone I consider a friend. He will be a real asset to our forum and cannot wait to see some of his posts including plenty of unlimited sized photographs hopefully! (none of this 550 pixel malarkey here!)

I am also hoping to be able to persuade another great collector and friend, Mr Kevin Hassall all being well and fingers crossed.

I second all the above comments. We are now growing in number with just the right kind of film lovers we need.
Plenty of passion and knowledge in order to keep this unique hobby alive and kicking right through the " unmentionable"
era.

The "u" word seems to be coming out as firm favourite for describing the indescribable! Lol

Welcome to our new members again. Sadly we lost one today, but hope we can stick together for a long time.

Alexander Vandeputte, Geoff Webb, BCPope (I hope you could change to reel name, sent you a PM) and Dave Alligan. Nice to see you all here

Why would anyone want to leave the forum, I thought we all "gelled" and topics are non offensive, that is very sad and I hope they have
a re think and come back.

I do understand his reasons, many feel still a bit scared of the illegal issue of owning 16mm and 35mm films. I am not so sure the world is the same anymore though, but he didn't want to risk it. I totally respect that, but feel very sad he left. I did close the For Sale/Trade/Want section for guests, so only members can see those. Which I feel must be the ones that would create any issue. I left the Auctions open, so here you can put you Super 8/Regular 8 without any problem, 16 and 35 at own risk

I don't think anyone bothers about 16mm now Vidar, it used to be illegal to own or import prints in the UK once, but not now, I would
think the same applies to 35mm, unless its "Star Wars or something of that ilk, but on the whole, film is seen as old hat, except by us.
Films, especially trailers keep popping up on 35mm on ebay, no one has been stopped from selling them. Still, they might return to the fold, lets hope so.

Wenn Sie hier auf Links zu eBay klicken und einen Kauf tätigen, kann dies dazu führen, dass diese Website eine Provision erhält.

I've seen the change only in the 2 1/2 years I've been collecting. When I started, it was nothing on eBay at all. Then trailers popped up more and more and now you regularly see features being sold on eBay. And Mr. Tarantino is publicly talking about his collection too. But, he has the right to be cautious of course. He'd be warmly welcomed to come back if he should decide so

So nice to see some still joining in. Welcome John Armer and hope to get to know you better soon. Feel free to post in Introduce yourself and tell us about what you collect. This is optional of course, but helps getting to know each other. You are most welcome

Yes John welcome and I too look forward to hearing about your interest in film on whichever gauge or gauges you are interested in.
