Vidar,

It is always interesting to me to see some less well-known titles being available on film...a fun assortment for you to watch!

Vidar,

Some nice films there! And most anything with John Candy in it is a big win to add to the collection.

Mark,
I continue to be surprised by some of the more obscure titles that are available on Super 8. As this is an optical print, can one assume it is an ex-airline print?

It's more than likely an airline print Greg, most were 3x600 but as in this print are 4x600, its one of the later prints being from 1988 as they only produced them for a couple more years, Mark

Just purchased The Iron Maiden from Independent 8 - I believe it was originally a Powell Release 4x400ft Super 8 with Michael Craig - directed by Gerald Thomas - a gentle british comedy and from classic on 16mm - The Pink Panther Strikes again - with the great Peter Sellers.

Finally found this little gem from Barry's collection, Derann's Showcase Ad Set. It wasn't complete - dayset reels rarely are - but I really wanted the airline themed insterstitials, all of which it had, so I made up a new box and edited together a nice little 8-min pre-show:

No Smoking
Intermission
Gordon's Gin
Showcase Movie Stills/Cinema Rental etc.
Showcase - Enjoy the Show/Concessions etc. (Airline)
Showcase Future Presentations
Showcase Sneak Preview
Naked Gun 33 1/3 Trailer
Showcase - Enjoy the Feature (Airline)
Showcase - The following feature is in Dolby Stereo

Got a small assortment from a dealer in the North,
Trailer for Dog Day Afternoon, quite rare and a great trailer
The Derann trailer reel to The little Mermaid and Mickeys Christmas Carol
200 b/w sound print of 20 million miles to Earth, quite a good edit to, not sure why i bought it, but anything Harryhausen is good for us.
Also, a good colour print of the Walton 4 x 400ft Fright feature, unfortunately, the friggin sound on part one drops out near the end of the opening titles and pretty much stays out until the end of the reel, utterly dissapointed with this as i did pay a fair bit for it, suffice to say it's going back, and people say eBay's bad!!!! I didn't bother looking at the other three reels.
Now for the task of returning and paying the return again!.
I am now considering anything new to be 16mm except for trailers and promos.

Sorry to say its not a surpise Tom, nothing is checked from them, a few nice titles recently but it's like playing Russian Roulette when buying, all I hear is crap being sent out these days, it's been that way for sometime unfortunately, I have no confidence buying from them that I don't anymore, such a shame you have the hassle and disappointment of sending it back, I got the postage cost back as I got so cheesed off being shafted time and time again they paid it, cheeky sod ask for the cheapest way though, shafted again!!! You say further purchasing will be more 16mm but even that's not plain sailing with them, nothing is,Mark

I've got a Derann feature (bought new) where the sound drops out for a few seconds near the end. Eventually found a 16mm copy. I was never fond of magnetic stripe.

Thanks Mark, my 16s wont come from there thats for sure. As you say, it does make you feel cheesed off, its also hassle which is not worth any title.

Just acquired a copy of Derann's copy of Tyburn Films - The Ghoul - starring Peter Cushing and John Hurt - from Independent 8 - looking forward to screening it tomorrow.

I saw the Ghoul on TV years ago, anything with Peter Chushing is going to be good on 8mm. (or 16)

I've been after a copy for many years but they are always badly faded - but when I rang Barry - he said he had been pleasantly surprised with the quality and only slight fade - he was also amazed that it hadnt gone - so I count myself lucky.
